GOAL:
Construct new bridges over the Chippewa River. |
Zenith Tech, Inc. recently completed construction of new bridges over the Chippewa River in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The bridges are approximately 900 feet in length and over 50 feet above the river. A major challenge of the project was constructing the cofferdams. The variation in flow volume and velocity of the river made getting the sheeting in place difficult. The upper photo shows the construction technique Zenith Tech employed. |
 |
CHALLENGE:
Working with the river's changing volume and velocity. |
Worker safety is paramount on any project. It is crucial on projects requiring workers to perform in high places. The center photo shows workers 'tied off' on the top flanges of the girders as they are erected. Zenith Tech maintains a safety manual that meets or exceeds OSHA requirements and provides safety training on a regular basis, but puts particular emphasis on daily safety huddles on bridge projects. |
 |
SOLUTION:
Employ a newly developed flange bracket system to complete the project on time and under budget. |
In the lower photo, a Zenith Tech engineer discusses the application of a newly developed 'tie off' flange bracket system with the project foreman. Zenith Tech designs and fabricates many of its own construction tools and production systems to suit the needs of the projects it completes.
