Zenith Tech, Inc. was engaged by Dairyland Power Cooperative (DPC) to complete all the sitework for their new combustion turbine project in Elk Mound, Wisconsin. The work includes site preparation, erosion control, concrete foundations, site restoration, roadway construction, and drilling foundations for connection to the existing station.
CHALLENGE:
The owner delayed the project start by a month, thus requiring concrete work during the winter months. In an effort to accelerate the schedule, work was conducted at various locations and with several other contractors.
SOLUTION:
The Zenith Tech staff worked closely with the design team as well as the DPC management group. Numerous plan changes were made and implemented. With cold weather dominating, ground-heating units and propane heaters were employed, along with insulating blankets to protect the concrete forms. Zenith Tech controlled the production schedule for an on-time completion.
